About Go Paragliding

Go Paragliding, originally known as Para-Taxi Tandem Paragliding, was established in 2008 by (TFI) Tandem Paragliding Instructor Jan de Jager. It was the second full-time tandem paragliding company in Cape Town, making it one of today’s established experts of the industry. On top of that, it was for a while the only paragliding company in South Africa to be registered as a Fair Trade in Tourism Company.

About the pilot – Jan de Jager

The founder and main pilot of Go Paragliding Jan de Jager was born in Nelspruit in 1977. Jan caught the paragliding bug when he was introduced to the sport by his friends at the age of 17. Jan started his training with instructor Anton Naudé, who has received RSA colours and is part of the South African Paragliding team. Under Anton’s guidance at the LSSC Paragliding School, Jan achieved his Basic and Sports license and became an assistant instructor, including flying and organizing competitions.

After four years, Jan moved to the Skywalk School of Paragliding, the largest paragliding school in Pretoria. He gained his Instructor’s License and Tandem License, which, at 21 years of age, made him the youngest instructor to ever qualify in South Africa.

Jan then moved to Paragliding Africa, where he assisted with public relations, and secured a sponsorship package with Nashua. He was headhunted to Paragliding Adventures, where he did mountain fly-away weekends as a supervisor, instructor and tandem pilot. Jan has also worked on the construction of gliders, including quality control, safety checks and test piloting in his work at Hawk Wings Paragliders. He was then approached by Fun Wings Paragliding School, where Jan was both an instructor and a senior sales and marketing manager.

His passion for flying has led him to travel extensively to Europe where he has flown in Switzerland, France, Germany and Austria. He had the pleasure of being introduced to Achim Joost from the German paragliding World cup team and met the famous Mad Mike Kung. He also trained Phil Meli (Switzerland) who was head of sports sponsorship at Red Bull Switzerland.

In 2003 Jan moved to Cape Town and in 2008 he took the leap and set up his own company - Para-Taxi Tandem Paragliding. The company was rebranded as Go Paragliding in 2019. The strong safety values and a genuine passion for flying have kept the business at the top of the flying game!
